Ganesha, the lord of all beginnings, wisdom and remover of obstacles is propitiated first of all because without him and his abundant grace, nothing can be started fruitfully. without worshipping him first, no other devta or divine force can be worshipped because he is the auspicious creation of Shakti and Shiva.

He is an ocean of knowledge and we are just waves. In his divine protection, we leave ourfate and he helps us deal with life's ups and downs, through the masterly control of planets - the Navagraha - who ruse us.

What are the Navagrahas?
Commonly referred to as the nine planets, these are an integral part of the universe and since we are a small part of that creation , our lives too revolve around these planets and their influence.

What is Jyotishi?

Jyotishi or the Science of Light (Jyoti), is a form of tapasya, penance, whose eyes are kaal or time. Lord Shiva is the anchor or sutradhaar. Mata Durga is its Shakti or divine power.

Jyotishi or astrology is an instrument, a tool to understand Time and Space and our small part in it. This Science was born thousands of years ago when our rishis and munis, sat in deep meditation and penance and found the art and meaning of this science.

In simple worldly terms, Jyotishi is taken to be the effect of 27 nakshatras or asterisms. The more one tries to understand it, the deeper one gets into the subject.

To be a good Jyotish, or pandit one has to be first a good human being. To be a good human-being, one has to first have divine grace and gurus' blessings.

Without God or Guru, this learning is not possible. True, one can acquire some knowledge and make predictions and help people generally but to have an influence on people and their lives, one must have influence, a direct contact to these divine forces.

These divine forces run the universe and its systems, including all planets and life thereon. There are nine planets that revolve around earth where we live and out of these nine, two are shadow planets (Rahu and Ketu).
