The brief profile of Sumithra Iyengar

Born in April 19, Sumithra Iyengar is the younger daughter of Mr. H. N. Anantharaman, Founder Partner - Dwarakanath and Anantharam Group of Companies. Her educational background is in Commerce, and her keen business abilities have been probably inherited from her illustrious father. Sumithra’s career exploits spans more than two decades, and begins in Australia, where she has lived for more than 15 years before returning to her roots here in Bangalore.

A quick look at her work profile overseas from 1980 onwards, Sumithra has worked for a decade in Australia, gaining knowledge and experience in a variety of fields. She has worked at Bruce Tart Research Service Pty. Ltd., where she was in charge of advertising activity statistics. Her stints with Westpac Banking Corporation and Barclays Bank, Australia have helped her absorb the nuances of International Finance and banking.

She worked in the Attorney General’s Department for “Equal Employment Opportunity Policy” & “Ethnic Affairs Policy Statement”, a prestigious opportunity for an Asian. She has delivered several lectures at Women’s Clubs, on India, Indian traditions and the ethnic culture. She has also been involved in social issues and causes. She was congratulated by “ THE ROYAL NEW SOUTH WALES INSTITUTE FOR DEAF AND BLIND CHILDREN” for raising funds to the tune of $ 200,000, which resulted in a splendid financial benefit for the Institute. She has also performed key functions in the Attorney General’s Department, as spokesperson and administrator.
