    The car market in India is one a roll. Cars we saw in foreign magazines and catalogues a few years ago, are now ours for the taking. Mitsubishi, Ford and Hyundai are just some of the internationally acclaimed motor companies which have entered the Indian market.

    This new scenario has ensured that second-hand car dealers are on a successful track. With so many new cars coming into the market, customers want to go in for newer models. This means they have to sell their old cars and that's where we come in, says Mohammed Sadiq of Car House.

    Car House was established in late 1996. Mohammed Nasir Pasha, better known as Babu in the business, was the man behind it's inception. Babu was fascinated by cars all along, says his brother Sadiq, who helps out in the business.

    Babu's trading in cars began while he was still in college. After completing his studies, he decided to get into the second hand car business.

    Four years down the line, Car House has built a steady base in the city. We have a good reputation in the market, says Sadiq.

    Car House works exclusively on a commission basis. We find the sellers and buyers, get them together and generally oversee the deal, he says.

    There are a number of attractive finance schemes available at the store for second-hand cars. It is in fact a Direct Sales Associate of Maruti Countrywide loans and has even bagged the award for best DSA in 1998. Apart from that they are also the valuators for Prerna Motors. The finance schemes available are excellent, even people drawing small salaries can afford cars with these schemes, says Sadiq.

    Car House deals in a variety of cars, ranging from foreign cars to vintage ones. A large number of Indian cars are also retailed through them, says Sadiq. There is a healthy market for Indian cars, but we have a reputation for foreign cars.

    With the help of contacts in Mumbai, a lot of business in foreign cars come their way. An important source of vintage cars is Goa.

    The advent of computers has also proven helpful. Car House now has it's own website - www.thecarhouse.com. Details of cars for sale are hosted on the site. This enables Car House to conduct is business beyond the borders of Karnataka.

    while dealing with the sale of a second-hand car, all the papers of the car in question are thoroughly cross-checked with the RTO. The buyers are also advised to bring their own mechanics to check the condition of the car. We believe in quality service and there is no place for under hand deals, says Sadiq.

    Although there are a large number of second-hand car dealers, the competition does not phase Sadiq. It depends on the deal you have to offer, because in this business, a good deal is the only thing that matters, he adds.
